Crafted by Valentine and Stéphane Mathieu, this expressive Gamay showcases the delicate fruit character, freshness and mineral elegance associated with the Fleurie appellation.
Sourced from the La Chapelle des Bois vineyard, the wine reflects the distinctive granitic soils of the site, which contribute to its aromatic complexity and refined mineral character. The vineyard's vines were planted in 1976, producing grapes that express the individuality of this special terroir.
The 2023 vintage displays a particularly delicate and refined personality, emphasizing freshness, purity of fruit and finesse rather than excessive power. Its low-intervention winemaking approach incorporates whole-cluster fermentation, natural indigenous yeasts and semi-carbonic maceration, helping preserve the vibrant fruit character and aromatic expression of Gamay.
The wine is matured in previously used oak barrels, allowing subtle development while maintaining the purity of its fruit and terroir. The result is a beautifully balanced Fleurie with an elegant structure, silky texture and refreshing finish.
