Domaine Valma Fleurie Lieu Dit La Madone 2024 750ml
Domaine Valma Fleurie Lieu-Dit "La Madone" 2024 is an elegant single-vineyard red wine from the Fleurie appellation in Beaujolais, France. Produced by Valentine and Stéphane Mathieu, this expressive Gamay showcases the delicate fruit character, floral complexity and distinctive mineral qualities of one of Fleurie's most celebrated vineyard sites.
Situated on the slopes surrounding the renowned Chapelle de la Madone, the vineyard features decomposed pink granite soils that contribute to the wine's aromatic precision, freshness and refined structure. The vines, planted in 1975, produce Gamay grapes that reflect the distinctive character of this exceptional terroir.
The 2024 vintage experienced challenging growing conditions, including cold weather and hail that significantly reduced yields. Despite the difficult season, the resulting wine maintains the domaine's commitment to purity, freshness and elegant expression.
Winemaking follows a low-intervention philosophy, beginning with natural fermentation using indigenous yeasts and carbonic maceration in concrete tanks. The fermentation lasts approximately 12 days before the wine is transferred to previously used oak barrels for further development.
The wine is aged for 18 months in used 500-litre and 228-litre oak barrels, allowing subtle complexity and texture to develop without overpowering the natural fruit and mineral character of Gamay.
The result is a refined and expressive Fleurie with delicate red fruit, floral aromatics, refreshing acidity and an elegant, silky texture.
