Domaine Vincent Pinard Sancerre "Charlouise" 2023 is an exceptional red wine from the prestigious Sancerre appellation in France's Loire Valley. Crafted entirely from Pinot Noir, this distinguished cuvée showcases the concentration, elegance and remarkable ageing potential of premium red Sancerre.
Sourced from the renowned terroirs of Bué, the wine comes from approximately 1.5 hectares of clay-limestone vineyards with limestone subsoil. The vines average around 50 years of age, contributing depth, concentration and complexity to the resulting wine.
The domaine follows a meticulous vineyard management philosophy, avoiding herbicides and emphasizing natural soil cultivation, grass cover and environmentally conscious practices. Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted to preserve their quality and aromatic expression.
In the winery, the grapes are completely destemmed before undergoing cold pre-fermentation maceration in truncated-conical wooden vats. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, accompanied by gentle pigeage and pumping over to develop structure while maintaining the purity of the fruit.
The wine is matured with approximately two-thirds in new and one-year-old oak barrels and one-third in wooden vats. This carefully managed ageing process contributes texture, depth and complexity while preserving the distinctive character of Pinot Noir.
The 2023 vintage is particularly impressive for its concentration, graceful balance and limestone-driven mineral expression. It offers an elegant combination of vibrant cherry, raspberry, sweet spice and velvety tannins, making it a remarkable example of age-worthy Loire Valley Pinot Noir.
