The Balvenie 16 Years French Oak is an elegant Single Malt Scotch Whisky from The Balvenie Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. Part of The Balvenie Stories Collection, this distinctive expression was inspired by former Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie, who sought to explore the influence of French oak through an innovative finishing process. The whisky is first matured for 16 years in traditional American oak ex-bourbon casks before being finished in carefully selected French oak casks that previously held wine from the Charentes vineyards of France, renowned for producing Pineau des Charentes. The result is a beautifully layered whisky that combines Balvenie's signature honeyed sweetness with vibrant fruit, floral elegance, and refined oak spice.

Bottled at 47.6% ABV, the higher strength preserves the whisky's rich texture and aromatic intensity. The French oak finish introduces delicate notes of candied citrus, apricot, white blossom, ginger, and subtle vanilla, complementing the classic Speyside profile of honey, orchard fruits, and soft malt. This expression showcases The Balvenie's continued commitment to innovation while remaining deeply rooted in traditional craftsmanship, including home-grown barley, a working floor maltings, in-house coopers, and resident coppersmiths.
