Mars Single Malt Whisky Tsunuki 2025 Edition 700ml

Mars Tsunuki 2025 Edition is a limited-release Japanese single malt whisky produced at the Mars Tsunuki Distillery in Kagoshima, Japan. Located in the lush mountains of the southwestern Satsuma Peninsula, the distillery benefits from a basin climate with significant temperature variations and pristine spring water from the Mt. Kurata mountain range.

The 2025 Edition is a carefully crafted vatting of malt whiskies matured in a variety of casks, with ex-Bourbon barrels and Sherry casks forming the primary maturation influence. This combination allows the expression to balance bright fruit and citrus character with vanilla sweetness, oak, malt, and deeper roasted notes.

Bottled at 49% ABV, the whisky offers a fuller presentation than many standard-strength Japanese whiskies while retaining the approachable, fruit-forward character associated with the Tsunuki style.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Bright golden amber.

Nose

Sweet and aromatic, with sweet-potato yokan, matchstick, and fresh fruit. With a little water, apple compote becomes more apparent, adding a soft, confectionery character.

Palate / Taste

Smooth and expressive, revealing honey, yellow peach, pineapple, kumquat, and citrus candy. The fruit-forward character is balanced by gentle malt sweetness and subtle oak.

Finish

Medium-long and refreshing, with sweet oak-derived aromas followed by bright citrus acidity. A delicate smoky and tea-like character can linger toward the end.
