Mars Tsunuki-Yakushima Aging 2020 PX Cask #2336 Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky 700ml (SG60 Edition)

Mars Single Malt Whisky Tsunuki-Yakushima Aging 2020 PX Cask #2336 is an exceptionally limited single-cask Japanese single malt produced at the Mars Tsunuki Distillery and matured in the unique tropical environment of Yakushima Island.

Distilled in February 2020, the Tsunuki single malt was matured in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry cask under Yakushima's warm, humid conditions before being bottled in March 2025 at 58% cask strength. Only 257 bottles were produced from cask #2336.

The combination of PX Sherry maturation and Yakushima's tropical aging environment produces an exceptionally rich profile centered on raisins, figs, dates, honey, jam, and candied fruit, followed by darker notes of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, and liquorice.

As part of the SG60 Edition, this bottling was created to commemorate Singapore's 60th anniversary and features artwork from Singaporean illustrator Lee Xin Li, from his In Our Time series.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep, dark amber.

Nose

Exceptionally rich and sweet, with raisins, figs, dates, honey, jam, and candied fruit. The PX Sherry influence is prominent, giving the whisky a luscious dried-fruit character.

Palate / Taste

Rich and concentrated, with layers of dried fruit, dark sweetness, honey, jam, and mature Sherry character. The tropical aging environment contributes additional depth and intensity.

Finish

Long, complex, and lingering, developing into toasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, and liquorice, with the rich PX Sherry character remaining prominent.
