Woodford Reserve® Master’s Collection Madeira Cask Finish is the 20th release in the Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection, showcasing a distinctive approach to finishing American whiskey with Madeira wine casks.

For this limited 2024 release, Woodford Reserve finished its bourbon, rye and wheat whiskies separately in Madeira casks, before blending them with Woodford Reserve’s fruit-forward Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey. Madeira casks, which previously held fortified wine from Portugal’s Madeira Islands, contribute layers of dried fruit, spice and nutty character to the whiskey.

Bottled at 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV), the expression combines the familiar richness of Woodford Reserve with a distinctly fruit-forward profile marked by dark cherries, candied orange, raisin, dried cranberry, walnut and baking spice.

Tasting Notes

Colour:
Chestnut.

Nose:
Dark cherries and brown sugar combine with candied oranges, cocoa powder, clove and nutmeg, followed by bright pepper and cedar wood.

Palate / Taste:
Rich oak, cinnamon and clove lead into robust dried dark fruit, including raisin and dried cranberry, with walnut and baking spice adding depth.

Finish:
Long and lingering, with candied walnut, berry fruit, dark cocoa and lingering spice.
