François Villard Côte-Rôtie “Le Gallet Blanc” 2023 is a highly refined and terroir-driven Syrah from one of the Northern Rhône’s most respected producers. Despite its name, this is a red Côte-Rôtie sourced from steep granite and schist slopes in the northern Rhône, where François Villard crafts wines known for precision, elegance, and expressive aromatic detail.

The 2023 vintage shows remarkable finesse, balancing concentrated dark fruit with floral lift and finely etched spice. A significant portion of whole-cluster fermentation and ageing in mostly used oak barrels gives the wine structure without overshadowing its purity of fruit. The result is a Côte-Rôtie that is both powerful and graceful, with a strong sense of place.

Already expressive in youth with decanting, this wine also has excellent ageing potential, evolving beautifully over the next decade.
