Domaine Valma Fleurie Lieu-Dit "La Madone" 2022 is an elegant single-vineyard red wine from the prestigious Fleurie appellation in Beaujolais, France. Produced by Valentine and Stéphane Mathieu, this expressive Gamay showcases the depth, freshness and distinctive mineral character of one of Fleurie's celebrated vineyard sites.
The La Madone vineyard is situated just below the Chapelle de la Madone, overlooking the village of Fleurie at approximately 425 metres above sea level. Its shallow granitic sandy soils, south and southeast-facing exposure, and old vines planted in 1976 contribute to the wine's concentration, aromatic complexity and refined structure.
Crafted using traditional Beaujolais winemaking techniques, the grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before undergoing whole-cluster semi-carbonic maceration in concrete vats. Indigenous yeasts encourage natural fermentation, preserving the purity and expression of the Gamay fruit.
The wine is aged for eight months, with approximately half matured in concrete vats and half in previously used oak barrels. This approach develops texture and complexity while allowing the vineyard's natural character to remain at the forefront.
The 2022 vintage is particularly expressive, offering greater structure, depth and concentration while retaining the freshness and elegance associated with Fleurie. It is an excellent choice for enthusiasts seeking a refined Beaujolais with distinctive single-vineyard character.

Expressive and complex with aromas of ripe raspberry, red cherry and wild strawberry, complemented by violet, dried flowers, subtle spice and earthy mineral nuances.

Elegant yet structured, with concentrated red fruit flavours of cherry, raspberry and ripe strawberry. Floral undertones develop alongside delicate spice and mineral notes. Fresh acidity provides balance, while refined, youthful tannins create a smooth but substantial mouthfeel.

Long, harmonious and refreshing, with lingering red berry fruit, delicate floral nuances and a subtle mineral character.
