Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2021 is one of Italy's most celebrated Amarone wines, produced by the prestigious Allegrini family, whose winemaking heritage in Valpolicella spans more than four centuries. Recognised as a benchmark producer of modern Amarone, Allegrini combines traditional appassimento techniques with meticulous vineyard management to create wines renowned for their elegance, concentration, and exceptional ageing potential. The grapes are sourced primarily from the estate's Marezzane and Villa Cavarena vineyards, situated at 450–520 metres above sea level on limestone- and clay-rich, well-drained soils.
The 2021 vintage is crafted from 45% Corvina Veronese, 45% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella, and 5% Oseleta. Following a selective hand harvest in late September, the grapes undergo the traditional appassimento process for approximately 3–4 months, naturally losing 40–45% of their weight to concentrate flavour and aroma. Fermentation takes place over approximately 25 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks before ageing for 18 months in new and second-use French barriques, followed by 7 months in large oak vats and a minimum of 14 months in bottle before release. The result is an Amarone of extraordinary richness, finesse, and remarkable balance.
