Altos Las Hormigas Malbec Reserve 2021 is an expressive and elegant Argentine Malbec from the Uco Valley in Mendoza. Made from 100% Malbec grapes grown on calcareous soils, the wine showcases the distinctive mineral character of the region alongside vibrant fruit, refined tannins and fresh acidity.
The 2021 vintage combines cassis, fresh plum and orange peel with more complex notes of chestnut, carob bark, eucalyptus, white pepper, bay leaf and white roses. Its juicy fruit character is supported by firm mineral and chalky notes, creating a textured and vibrant palate.
The wine was aged for 18 months in large 3,500-litre untoasted French oak foudres, with a portion aged in concrete pools, followed by 12 months of bottle ageing.

Tasting Notes

Colour:
Intense red with deep dark red and burgundy hues.

Nose:
Fine and expressive with cassis, fresh plum and orange peel, accompanied by chestnut, carob bark, eucalyptus, white pepper, bay leaf and delicate white floral notes.

Palate:
Fruity, juicy and textured with cassis and fresh plum flavours. Firm mineral and chalky notes provide structure, while vibrant acidity and refined tannins create freshness and balance.

Finish:
Long, fresh and persistent with lingering dark fruit, mineral, chalky and subtle herbal notes.
