The Balvenie 14 Years Caribbean Cask is an award-winning Single Malt Scotch Whisky crafted at The Balvenie Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. Created by legendary Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, this innovative expression is matured for 14 years in traditional American oak ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred to casks that previously held a bespoke blend of West Indian rums. This unique finishing process imparts vibrant tropical fruit character while preserving The Balvenie's signature honeyed sweetness and elegant Speyside style.

The rum casks are specially prepared by seasoning American oak barrels with a carefully selected blend of Caribbean rums before they are filled with mature Balvenie whisky. During the finishing period, the whisky develops additional layers of toffee, vanilla, tropical fruits, and warming spice, creating a rich yet remarkably balanced profile. Bottled at 43% ABV, the Caribbean Cask is celebrated for its smooth texture, approachable complexity, and distinctive finish, making it one of The Balvenie's most popular expressions worldwide.

Tasting Notes

Colour:
Rich golden amber with warm honey highlights.

Nose:
Inviting aromas of honey, creamy vanilla, ripe banana, mango, toffee, citrus peel, toasted oak, and delicate floral notes with hints of soft spice.

Palate:
Smooth, rich, and creamy with layers of honeycomb, vanilla fudge, caramel, ripe tropical fruits, baked pear, toasted coconut, cinnamon, and gentle oak spice. The Caribbean rum cask finish adds subtle sweetness and complexity without overpowering the whisky's classic Speyside character.
