Domaine Berthelemot Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Abbaye de Morgeot 2024 is an expressive white Burgundy from one of the Côte de Beaune's distinguished Premier Cru vineyards. Produced entirely from Chardonnay, it combines the richness and concentration associated with Chassagne-Montrachet with the freshness and mineral character of its distinctive vineyard terroir.
The Abbaye de Morgeot climat lies in the southern part of Chassagne-Montrachet, on the lower slopes at approximately 230–240 metres above sea level. Its reddish clay-silty soils, coloured by iron oxides, sit over Bathonian limestone fragments. The vineyard's history dates back to around 1150, when Cistercian monks established a religious annex in Morgeot.
Domaine Berthelemot hand-harvests its Chardonnay grapes and ferments and ages the wine in oak barrels. The estate has been certified organic since the 2021 vintage, reflecting its commitment to vineyard health and expressing the character of its individual sites.
The wine's profile centres on orchard fruit, almonds, white flowers and honey, supported by a generous palate and mineral-driven finish. Its concentration and structure make it appealing both for enjoyment in its youth and for cellaring.
