Bruna Grimaldi "Camilla" Barolo DOCG 2017 750ml
Bruna Grimaldi "Camilla" Barolo DOCG 2017 is the flagship Barolo Classico from the family-owned Azienda Agricola Bruna Grimaldi, located between Grinzane Cavour and Serralunga d'Alba in the heart of Piedmont. Produced from 100% Nebbiolo, Camilla is a traditional multi-vineyard Barolo crafted from carefully selected estate vineyards across several prestigious Barolo communes. Named after the historic Camilla vineyard in Grinzane Cavour, this wine reflects the harmony, elegance, and balance of classic Barolo while showcasing the diversity of the appellation's finest terroirs. The vineyards are planted on the renowned Marne di Sant'Agata Fossili and Lequio Formation soils, rich in limestone and clay, producing wines with remarkable structure, finesse, and ageing potential.
The warm and dry 2017 vintage yielded lower production but produced concentrated Nebbiolo with expressive aromatics and generous fruit. Following meticulous hand harvesting, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation with extended skin maceration of approximately 20–30 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete tanks before the wine is matured for 24–30 months in large Slavonian oak casks and French oak tonneaux, without the use of new oak. The result is a rich yet elegant Barolo with floral complexity, ripe red fruit, silky tannins, and excellent drinkability while retaining the ability to evolve gracefully over the coming decade.
