Campogiovanni, Il Quercione, Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2011 750ml
Campogiovanni Il Quercione Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2011 is the flagship single-vineyard Brunello from San Felice's Campogiovanni Estate, produced exclusively in exceptional vintages. Crafted from 100% Sangiovese Grosso, the wine originates from the historic Il Quercione vineyard, a prized 2.5-hectare south-facing parcel in Montalcino. Its medium-textured soils of clay, sandstone, and calcareous marl consistently produce wines of remarkable concentration, elegance, and exceptional longevity. This Riserva represents the highest expression of the Campogiovanni terroir and is produced in limited quantities only when vintage conditions are outstanding.
The warm and balanced 2011 growing season produced healthy, perfectly ripened grapes with excellent concentration and aromatic intensity. Following hand harvesting on 3 October, the grapes underwent a 25-day maceration at controlled temperatures before malolactic fermentation. The wine was then matured for 24 months in 500-litre French oak tonneaux, followed by an extended 36 months of bottle ageing before release. The result is a powerful yet refined Brunello Riserva that combines rich fruit, polished tannins, and extraordinary ageing potential exceeding two decades.
