Ca' Rugate Amarone Punta 470 DOCG 2020 is the flagship Amarone from the award-winning, family-owned Ca' Rugate winery, celebrated for producing elegant, terroir-driven wines from the hills of Veneto. Crafted from a meticulous selection of estate-grown grapes from the Punta 470 vineyard in Montecchia di Crosara, this Amarone showcases the estate's philosophy of combining richness with remarkable freshness and finesse. The vineyards are planted on gravel and limestone soils at elevations of around 470 metres above sea level, producing fruit with exceptional concentration, vibrant acidity, and excellent ageing potential.

Made from 45% Corvina, 40% Corvinone, and 15% Rondinella, the grapes are hand-harvested during the final two weeks of September before undergoing the traditional appassimento process. The fruit is gently dried in well-ventilated rooms for approximately 4–5 months, naturally concentrating sugars, flavours, and aromas. Fermentation takes place during the winter following harvest, after which the wine is matured for approximately 25–30 months in oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing before release. The 2020 vintage delivers outstanding purity, balance, and structure, making it enjoyable upon release while rewarding extended cellaring.

Tasting Notes

Colour:
Deep, intense garnet red.

Nose:
Concentrated aromas of ripe blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, dried cherry, sweet spices, cocoa, vanilla, cedar, and subtle toasted oak.

Palate:
Full-bodied and richly textured with layers of ripe black fruits, dried cherries, dark chocolate, liquorice, baking spices, and hints of espresso. Velvety tannins and lively acidity create remarkable balance, elegance, and depth.

Finish:
Long, smooth, and persistent with lingering notes of dried fruit, cocoa, sweet spice, mineral nuances, and refined oak complexity.
