Casa Ferreirinha Reserva Especial 2014 is one of the most prestigious red wines produced by Casa Ferreirinha, representing the 18th declared vintage of Reserva Especial. Created only in exceptional years, Reserva Especial showcases the depth, elegance and distinctive character of the Douro Superior.

The 2014 vintage was marked by a moderate growing season and balanced grape maturation, resulting in a wine of remarkable harmony, freshness and complexity.

Produced primarily from carefully selected grapes from Quinta da Leda and neighbouring high-altitude vineyards, the wine combines traditional Douro varieties to create a powerful yet refined expression.

The aromatic profile is intensely complex, revealing ripe black fruit, spices, pepper, truffle, sous-bois, balsamic resin, cedar, tobacco and subtle menthol. A distinctive rocky mineral character and hints of cocoa add further depth.

On the palate, the wine offers excellent volume and concentration, supported by vibrant acidity and firm, structured tannins. French oak ageing contributes subtle spice and cedar complexity while remaining beautifully integrated with the fruit.

The finish is exceptionally long, elegant and complex.

Colour:

Deep ruby red with excellent colour intensity and attractive mature reflections.

Nose:

Intense and highly complex with ripe blackberry and blackcurrant, accompanied by black pepper, spices, truffle and sous-bois. Balsamic resin, cedar, tobacco box and subtle menthol notes add complexity, while stony mineral and cocoa nuances provide additional depth.

Palate:

Full-bodied and concentrated with excellent volume. Vibrant acidity provides freshness and balance, while firm, structured tannins give the wine impressive backbone. Ripe black fruit, spice, balsamic and mineral flavours develop throughout the palate.

Finish:

Exceptionally long, persistent and complex, with lingering dark fruit, spice, cedar, tobacco, balsamic and mineral notes.
