Cascina Fontana Langhe Nebbiolo 2021 750ml

Cascina Fontana Langhe Nebbiolo 2021 is a traditional Piedmontese red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the historic Castello vineyard, Lirano and Mombello vineyards in Sinio, together with grapes from the Il Pozzo vineyard in Castiglione Falletto. The combination of these sites produces an elegant and expressive wine with fresh fruit, floral aromatics, balanced acidity and refined tannins.

The Nebbiolo is fermented for approximately two weeks, a shorter period than the fruit destined for Barolo. It is then matured in a combination of large wooden casks and used barriques for approximately one year before further bottle ageing. This traditional approach preserves the freshness and purity of the fruit while developing greater complexity and harmony.

The 2021 vintage benefited from a cool, dry growing season with significant temperature variation and cooler conditions after mid-September, resulting in grapes of excellent quality. Cascina Fontana describes the vintage as particularly fresh, fragrant, elegant and structured.

Bright ruby red with delicate garnet reflections.

Nose:

Expressive and aromatic with rose petals, red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry, accompanied by subtle violet, dried floral, earthy and delicate spice nuances.

Palate:

Fresh, elegant and harmonious with flavours of red cherry, wild berries and raspberry. Fine Nebbiolo tannins provide structure, while lively acidity brings freshness, balance and length.

Finish:

Long and savoury with lingering red fruit, floral notes, delicate spice and subtle mineral character.
