Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillius Terrae 2016 750ml
Catena Zapata "Adrianna Vineyard - Mundus Bacillus Terrae" 2016 is a prestigious single-vineyard Malbec produced from the renowned Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary, Tupungato Alto, Mendoza. Located at approximately 1,390 metres above sea level, the 1.4-hectare parcel is characterized by limestone-rich alluvial soils and marine deposits, contributing to the wine's distinctive mineral character and freshness.
The 2016 vintage was influenced by a particularly cool and rainy El Niño growing season. Grapes ripened slowly while retaining freshness and acidity. The wine was fermented partly in concrete with approximately 50% whole clusters, while the remaining fermentation was completed in French oak foudre. It was subsequently aged for 18 months in French oak.
The result is a powerful yet refined Malbec with concentrated dark fruit, floral aromas, pronounced mineral character, lively acidity and highly refined tannins.
