Château Haut-Batailley Verso Pauillac 2017 is the elegant second wine of the renowned Fifth Growth (Cinquième Grand Cru Classé) Château Haut-Batailley. Introduced with the 2017 vintage following the acquisition of the estate by the Cazes family (owners of Château Lynch-Bages), Verso was created to offer an approachable yet authentic expression of Pauillac. Its name, meaning "reverse" in French, pays tribute to the reverse side of the estate's iconic label, featuring the historic Tour l'Aspic that stands at the entrance to the château.
The 2017 vintage is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, sourced from carefully selected vineyard parcels on Pauillac's renowned deep gravel soils. Matured in French oak barrels, the wine delivers expressive aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, cedar, graphite, and gentle spice, with silky tannins and vibrant freshness. While approachable in its youth, Verso retains the hallmark structure, finesse, and ageing potential that define the Pauillac appellation, making it an outstanding introduction to the style of Château Haut-Batailley.
