Château Le Pastourelle de Clerc Milon Pauillac 2022 is the elegant second wine of the prestigious Fifth Growth (Cinquième Grand Cru Classé) Château Clerc Milon, one of the flagship estates of Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Produced from carefully selected vineyard parcels within the Pauillac appellation, Le Pastourelle de Clerc Milon embodies the same meticulous vineyard management and winemaking philosophy as the Grand Vin while offering a more approachable and youthful expression of this celebrated Left Bank terroir.
The exceptional 2022 vintage benefited from a warm, dry growing season that produced grapes of remarkable concentration, freshness, and balance. The blend comprises 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 2% Carmenère, and 1% Petit Verdot, creating a harmonious wine with vibrant black fruit, liquorice, pepper, and refined tannins. Aged in French oak barrels with no new oak, the wine preserves the purity of its fruit while showcasing the elegance and precision that define Pauillac. Rich yet beautifully balanced, Le Pastourelle de Clerc Milon 2022 is approachable in its youth and possesses excellent ageing potential.
Tasting Notes
Colour:
Deep ruby purple with brilliant violet reflections.
Nose:
Expressive aromas of wild bilberry, blackcurrant, blackberry, liquorice, violet, cedar, graphite, fresh herbs, and subtle black pepper.
Palate:
Medium to full-bodied with generous layers of cassis, black cherry, ripe plum, and blackberry, complemented by notes of dark chocolate, cedar, graphite, liquorice, and delicate spice. Creamy, refined tannins and vibrant acidity create outstanding balance, freshness, and elegance.
Finish:
Long, smooth, and persistent with lingering black fruits, pepper, cedar, graphite, and classic Pauillac minerality.
