Clos Du Mont Olivet Chateauneuf Du Pape Cuvee du Papet 2020 750ml
Clos Du Mont Olivet Chateauneuf-du-Pape "Cuvee du Papet" 2020 is a prestigious French red wine produced by Clos du Mont-Olivet in the renowned Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation of the Southern Rhône Valley. As the estate's flagship cuvée, it is crafted from carefully selected grapes sourced from the estate's finest vineyard parcels, including Montalivet, La Crau and Bois Dauphin. The wine draws on exceptionally old Grenache vines, with some planted in 1901, complemented by Syrah and Mourvèdre.
The 2020 vintage is distinguished by its concentration, structure and remarkable ageing potential. Aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry and dark berries are layered with ground black pepper, liquorice, Mediterranean herbs and chalky mineral nuances. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful, with a dense core of fruit, ripe tannins and balanced freshness that brings precision to its rich character.
Traditional winemaking methods help preserve the expression of the old vines and the distinctive terroir. The predominantly sandy soils, together with rounded quartz stones known as galets roulés in selected parcels, contribute to the wine's complexity and structure. Its long, savoury finish and firm tannic framework make it particularly suitable for extended cellaring.
The 750ml bottle is an excellent choice for serious collectors, premium wine enthusiasts and special dining occasions. Its depth and complexity pair beautifully with roasted meats, game, slow-cooked dishes and richly flavoured Mediterranean cuisine.
