CVNE Corona Gran Reserva Rioja 2015 750ml

CVNE Corona Gran Reserva Rioja 2015 is a distinctive semi-sweet white wine made exclusively from Viura grapes from the La Salceda vineyard in Villalba de Rioja. Produced only in vintages with suitable weather conditions, Corona is a historic CVNE wine inspired by the winery's traditional late-harvest style.

The grapes are harvested manually in December after extended ripening, with the vineyard's cool evening mists encouraging the development of Botrytis Cinerea. Fermentation takes place directly in French oak barrels before being stopped to retain approximately 30 g/L of residual sugar. The wine then undergoes six years of ageing in French oak, developing remarkable complexity while retaining its natural acidity.

Only 1,526 bottles of the 2015 vintage were produced, making this a particularly limited expression.

Tasting Notes

Colour:

Bright golden yellow with a luminous appearance.

Nose:

Complex and expressive with aromas of white flowers, ripe pear and apple, orange peel, quince and subtle dried-fruit character. Extended oak ageing adds toasted, spicy and nutty nuances.

Palate:

Rich, smooth and concentrated with a naturally sweet character balanced by powerful acidity. Notes of ripe yellow fruit, dried fruit, vanilla spice and toasted nuts are complemented by a savoury, complex character.

Finish:

Long and persistent, with lingering sweet fruit, toasted oak, spice, nutty and citrus notes. The refreshing acidity maintains balance through the finish.
