CVNE Monopole Clasico Blanco Seco 2021 750ml

CVNE Monopole Clásico Blanco Seco is a distinctive dry white wine from Rioja, produced as a revival of the traditional Monopole style from the 1960s. Monopole is one of Spain's oldest registered white wine brands, dating back to 1915, while the Clásico style was recreated by CVNE in 2014 to reflect the character and winemaking approach of the historic wine.
The grapes come from CVNE's own vineyard in Villalba de Rioja, situated at more than 600 metres above sea level on limestone soils. The grapes are manually harvested, gently pressed and clarified in concrete tanks before alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel. The wine then spends approximately eight months with fine lees in previously used barrels and botas of 300, 400 and 500 litres, developing additional texture, savoury complexity and aromatic depth.
The 2019 vintage offers a mature and complex expression with fruit, dried fruit, spice and saline character, while the 2021 vintage continues the traditional style with fresh acidity, chamomile and dried-fruit notes and a long, persistent finish.

Tasting Notes

Colour:
Straw yellow with subtle golden reflections, clear and bright.

Nose:
Complex and expressive with pear, apple, white currant and white flowers, accompanied by dried fruit, chamomile, subtle spice and savoury mineral nuances.

Palate:
Dry, fresh and textured with ripe orchard fruit, citrus, dried fruit and subtle herbal notes. Elegant acidity provides freshness, while the lees and used-barrel maturation contribute depth, savoury character and a rounded mouthfeel.

Finish:
Long and persistent with saline, mineral and lightly nutty notes, balanced by refreshing acidity and a subtle savoury character.
