Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "Branella" 2021 is a distinguished single-vineyard red wine from one of Abruzzo's most respected traditional wine estates. Sourced from the historic Branella vineyard in Torano Nuovo, this exceptional cuvée showcases the depth, individuality and ageing potential of old-vine Montepulciano.
The vineyard covers approximately two hectares and features predominantly sandy soils with limestone-rich layers, contributing freshness, precision and distinctive mineral character. The vines were planted in 1966 and are cultivated using certified biodynamic practices.
Following careful hand-harvesting and selection, the grapes are traditionally processed with spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts. The wine is matured for approximately 24 months in glass-lined cement tanks rather than oak barrels, preserving the purity of the fruit and the expression of its vineyard. Bottled without fining or filtration, Branella 2021 is a powerful yet refined wine with remarkable aromatic complexity and structure.

Nose:
Expressive aromas of dried black cherry, dark berries and plum, accompanied by violets, grilled herbs, autumnal spices and subtle smoky nuances.

Palate:
Elegant and silky, revealing layers of dark red and blue fruit supported by vibrant acidity and saline minerality. Firm, grippy tannins provide structure, while savoury herbs and delicate spice add complexity.

Finish:
Exceptionally long and concentrated, with lingering blackberry, violet, dried cherry and mineral notes, finishing with a subtle bitter-fruit character.
