Glendronach Ode To The Embers Single Malt Whisky 700ml

The GlenDronach Ode To The Embers is a richly aromatic Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky that explores a distinctive smoky side of The GlenDronach's traditionally sherry-driven character.

Part of The GlenDronach's Master's Anthology, the expression pays tribute to traditional whisky-making methods in which peat smoke was used to dry malted barley. It combines gentle Highland peat smoke with a dominance of Oloroso sherry casks for spice and complexity, enriched by Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for additional richness and depth.

The result is a sophisticated balance between smouldering smoke and rich sherry character, bringing together cinnamon-spiced toffee, apple, caramelised walnuts, raisins, honeyed walnuts, dark berries and smoked chocolate.

Bottled at 48.4% ABV, Ode To The Embers offers a powerful yet layered drinking experience, with the smoke complementing rather than overpowering the whisky's rich fruit and chocolate character.

Tasting Notes

Colour:
Smouldering amber.

Nose:
Cinnamon-spiced toffee, fresh apple and caramelised walnut brittle intertwine with flamed orange and the gentle aroma of a smouldering open fire.

Palate:
Rich and layered with raisins and honeyed walnut, followed by bramble fruit, dark berries and indulgent smoked chocolate fudge.

Finish:
Long, warming and gently smoky, with lingering dried fruit, cocoa, dark chocolate and subtle peat character.
