They show a deep, intense, ruby red colour. As they age, these robust, full-bodied wines become remarkably smooth and supple. They have good ageing potential of around 10 years, during which time the better vintages develop exquisite notes of violet, spice and cassis.
100 % Syrah

J. Denuzière Hermitage 2020 is an exceptional 100% Syrah from the legendary Hermitage AOC, one of the most prestigious appellations in the Northern Rhône Valley. Produced by the historic Maison J. Denuzière, founded in 1876 in Condrieu, this premium Hermitage is sourced from steep, sun-drenched granite slopes overlooking the Rhône River, where old vines produce wines renowned for their concentration, elegance, and extraordinary ageing potential.

The grapes are hand-harvested in small 20kg crates and undergo 100% whole-bunch fermentation, allowing a natural semi-carbonic fermentation before gentle foot treading. The wine is then matured for at least 18 months in a combination of 228L to 600L French oak barrels, including a small proportion of new oak, enhancing complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit and the expression of Hermitage's weathered granite soils. The outstanding 2020 vintage delivers remarkable depth with layers of cassis, blackberry, violet, black pepper, liquorice, and smoky mineral notes, supported by refined tannins and exceptional structure.

Palate:
Full-bodied and powerful with concentrated flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, and dark cherry, layered with notes of black pepper, liquorice, dark chocolate, smoked herbs, and refined oak. Firm yet polished tannins and vibrant acidity provide exceptional balance, depth, and ageing potential.

Finish:
Exceptionally long, elegant, and mineral-driven with lingering cassis, violet, peppery spice, graphite, and savoury complexity.
