The Jade Gross Time Is On My Side 2023 is an ultra-limited Rioja DOCa red wine and one of the most exclusive releases from Jade Gross Wines. Crafted by Australian-born winemaker Jade Gross in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, this is the first vintage of Time Is On My Side, representing Jade's most patient and age-worthy expression of Rioja. The wine embodies the philosophy that exceptional wines are rewarded with time, both in the cellar and in the bottle before release.

Produced from 88% Tempranillo and 12% Graciano, the Tempranillo originates from the La Cantera (Harrobia) vineyard in Labastida, where 39-year-old bush vines grow on clay-limestone and sandstone soils at an altitude of 650 metres beneath the Sierra de Toloño. The Graciano, incorporated into a Jade Gross wine for the first time, is sourced from Laguardia on clay-limestone soils. The Graciano grapes were fully destemmed, while 30% of the Tempranillo was fermented as whole bunches in open-top fermenters. The wine was then matured for 17 months in a 1,000-litre French oak foudre, followed by 15 months of bottle ageing before release. With only 1,380 individually numbered bottles produced, this is an exceptionally rare collector's wine.

Tasting Notes

Colour:
Deep ruby red with brilliant garnet and violet reflections.

Nose:
Complex aromas of black cherry, blackberry, wild raspberry, violet, dried rose petals, cedar, tobacco leaf, sweet baking spice, graphite, and subtle earthy minerality.

Palate:
Medium to full-bodied with beautifully layered flavours of black cherry, ripe plum, blackberry, raspberry, cocoa, liquorice, crushed herbs, and mineral notes. Fine-grained tannins and vibrant natural acidity provide remarkable structure, while the long maturation in large-format French oak preserves fruit purity and elegance.

Finish:
Exceptionally long, refined, and persistent with lingering dark fruits, savoury spice, floral notes, graphite, and mineral freshness.
