The La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904 Selección Especial 2015 is one of Spain's most celebrated fine wines, crafted by the prestigious La Rioja Alta S.A., a historic winery founded in 1890 in Haro, Rioja. Produced only in outstanding vintages, Gran Reserva 904 is named in honour of the winery's merger with Ardanza in 1904 and represents the pinnacle of traditional Rioja winemaking. The 2015 vintage was awarded the designation "Selección Especial", reserved for exceptional harvests with outstanding quality and ageing potential.
Crafted from 90% Tempranillo sourced from old vineyards in Briñas, Labastida, and Villalba, and 10% Graciano from the Montecillo vineyard, all grapes were hand-harvested into small boxes and transported in refrigerated vehicles to preserve fruit quality. The 2015 vintage was also the first Gran Reserva 904 to undergo optical berry-by-berry sorting, ensuring only the finest fruit was selected. After alcoholic and natural malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 4 years in American oak barrels crafted by the winery's own cooperage (average barrel age of 4.5 years), with traditional hand rackings every six months by candlelight, before bottling in February 2020. The result is an elegant, complex Rioja with remarkable freshness, silky tannins, and extraordinary longevity.

Colour:
Medium-high intensity garnet with a brilliant ruby rim.
Nose:
Highly complex aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, plum, blackberry, cranberry, tobacco, brioche, freshly ground coffee, caramel, cedar, vanilla, cinnamon blossom, and balsamic herbs.
Palate:
Medium to full-bodied with superb balance and refinement. Layers of ripe red and black berries, plum, cedar, tobacco, vanilla, coffee, sweet spices, and balsamic notes are supported by polished tannins, lively acidity, and exceptional elegance.
Finish:
Long, delicate, and persistent with lingering red fruits, cedar, spice, vanilla, and remarkable freshness.
