The La Sala Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2016 is a premium Tuscan red crafted by Fattoria La Sala, a historic estate located in San Casciano Val di Pesa, within the heart of the Chianti Classico region. Produced only from carefully selected fruit, this Riserva represents the estate's pursuit of greater concentration, structure, and longevity. The exceptional 2016 vintage, widely regarded as one of Tuscany's greatest in recent decades, delivered perfectly balanced fruit with outstanding freshness, making it ideal for producing long-lived Chianti Classico Riserva wines.

The wine is produced from 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from hillside vineyards situated between 200 and 310 metres above sea level. The vines are planted on a combination of Alberese limestone, Galestro schist, and red clay soils, which contribute elegance, minerality, and depth. The grapes are hand-harvested, gently crushed, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with approximately three weeks of maceration using délestage and pump-over techniques for optimal extraction. The wine is then matured for a minimum of 18 months in large 38-hectolitre French oak casks, followed by at least 6 months of bottle ageing, resulting in remarkable complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit.

Nose:
Complex aromas of Amarena cherry, ripe black cherry, violet, graphite, cedar, tobacco, leather, sweet spice, balsamic herbs, and subtle mineral nuances.

Palate:
Full-bodied yet beautifully balanced with concentrated flavours of black cherry, plum, blackberry, dried herbs, liquorice, dark chocolate, and savoury spice. Firm but polished tannins are supported by vibrant acidity, delivering exceptional structure, elegance, and depth.

Finish:
Long, persistent, and refined with lingering dark fruits, cedar, graphite, dried herbs, tobacco, and mineral freshness.
