Levantine Hill Samantha’s Paddock Melange Traditionnel 2018 750ml

Levantine Hill Samantha’s Paddock Mélange Traditionnel 2018 is a premium single-vineyard Cabernet-based red blend from the Yarra Valley in Victoria, Australia. Crafted from grapes grown on the steep and rocky Samantha’s Paddock, the wine is Levantine Hill’s interpretation of the classic Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines of Bordeaux’s Left Bank.

The 2018 vintage is composed of five traditional Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The fruit was hand-picked, hand-sorted and fermented in small batches before being matured in a combination of new and seasoned premium French oak casks. The individual components were aged separately before being blended prior to bottling.

Tasting Notes

Colour:

Deep ruby red with concentrated, youthful colour.

Nose:

Expressive and complex, with cassis, loganberry, blackberry and bramble accompanied by violets, vanilla bean, clove, cedar, camphor, graphite and refined oak.

Palate:

Supple, flavourful and finely structured, showing blueberry, cranberry, dark berry fruit and savoury notes of wood sorrel and smoked meat. Pink peppercorn, cocoa nib and subtle oak add further complexity, while rustic yet regal tannins provide structure and texture.

Finish:

Long, persistent and elegant, with dark fruit, cassis, graphite, cedar, spice and savoury characters lingering alongside fine-grained tannins.
