Martell VSOP Red Barrel Cognac 1L is a refined VSOP Cognac showcasing Martell's distinctive approach to oak ageing. The eaux-de-vie are matured in fine-grained oak barrels that have previously been used to age eaux-de-vie, giving the barrels their characteristic reddish colour and softer influence on the spirit.
The result is an elegant and fruit-forward Cognac, combining ripe yellow-fruit flavours with subtle wood and soft spice. Martell states that the youngest eaux-de-vie in its VSOP blend have been aged for at least four years.
Tasting Notes
Colour:
Warm copper with golden highlights.
Nose:
Intense aromas of ripe yellow fruits, including mirabelle plum, greengage, apricot and vine peach.
Palate:
Luscious and fruity, with refined notes of wood and soft spices. Smooth and well balanced.
Finish:
Elegant and lingering, with delicate fruit, gentle oak and subtle spice.
