Oddero Barolo “Bussia Vigna Mondoca” Riserva 2017 is a powerful and highly regarded single-vineyard Barolo from the historic Bussia cru in Monforte d’Alba, crafted by Poderi e Cantine Oddero. This Riserva represents one of the estate’s most expressive and structured interpretations of Nebbiolo, sourced from the elevated Vigna Mondoca parcel, known for producing wines of intensity, mineral precision, and long ageing potential.
The 2017 vintage in Barolo was warm and dry, resulting in wines with ripe fruit concentration and generous aromatics, while the best sites—like Bussia Mondoca—retained balance, freshness, and site transparency. This bottling has earned strong critical acclaim for its combination of sensual aromatics and firm structural backbone, with noted complexity and longevity.
True to Oddero’s traditional winemaking philosophy, the wine undergoes long maceration followed by extended ageing in large Slavonian oak casks (botti grandi), preserving Nebbiolo’s purity while allowing slow development of tertiary complexity. The Riserva designation further extends maturation, giving the wine additional depth, refinement, and ageing capacity.
