Olivier Leflaive Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint-Marc (Domaine) 2022 is an outstanding estate-grown Chardonnay from the historic Clos Saint-Marc, a monopole vineyard forming part of the prestigious Les Vergers Premier Cru climat in Chassagne-Montrachet. Produced exclusively from Olivier Leflaive's domaine-owned vines, this rare Premier Cru expresses the elegance, richness, and mineral precision that define Burgundy's finest white wines. The 1.71-hectare vineyard enjoys a north-east exposure on distinctive red clay-limestone soils with a stony subsoil, creating ideal conditions for Chardonnay to develop remarkable freshness, finesse, and ageing potential.
The exceptional 2022 vintage delivered healthy yields, abundant sunshine, and perfectly ripened fruit while preserving vibrant acidity and balance. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and pressed as whole clusters before a 24-hour static settling. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in French oak barrels, followed by 18 months of ageing, including six months of blending in stainless steel tanks. Matured in 100% French oak barrels with 10% new oak, the wine offers remarkable harmony between ripe stone fruit, elegant oak, and distinctive limestone minerality, with excellent cellaring potential.
