Opus One 2016 is a distinguished Napa Valley red from the iconic Opus One estate, founded by Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi with the vision of creating a wine combining the traditions of Bordeaux with the character of Napa Valley.

The 2016 growing season followed five consecutive years of drought, but the Oakville estate received sufficient winter rainfall to establish favourable soil conditions. Harvest began on 9 September and concluded on 12 October under mild conditions that allowed the vineyard team to select fruit carefully.

The resulting wine is notably elegant and vibrant, combining fresh red and blue fruit with baking spices, vanilla and delicate spring florals. Nuances of sage, rosemary and black olive add complexity, while black cherry, blackberry and cassis provide a generous fruit core. The wine was aged for 18 months in new French oak following 17 days of skin contact, contributing depth, structure and polish.
