Opus One 2022 is a prestigious Napa Valley red wine from the Opus One estate in Oakville, California. Founded through the collaboration of Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Napa Valley vintner Robert Mondavi, Opus One brings together Bordeaux winemaking tradition and the distinctive expression of Napa Valley.
The 2022 growing season began with abundant early-winter rainfall, followed by a notably dry late winter. Extreme temperatures during harvest required careful vineyard management, including selective irrigation and harvesting of ripe fruit ahead of the heat. Harvest took place from 24 August to 26 September, resulting in a wine that the estate describes as showing exceptional freshness alongside remarkable flavour.
The blend is led by 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec. Following 20 days of skin contact, the wine was aged for 18 months in new French oak, developing its characteristic depth, structure and polished texture.

Expressive aromas of blueberry, cassis and dried rose petals, layered with olive, cigar box and graphite.

Bright red-fruit flavours combine with cocoa and fresh orange peel. The palate is harmonious and balanced, supported by juicy fruit concentration and fine-grained tannins.

Long and elegant, with nuances of wet stone, vanilla and a subtle hint of coffee
