Orin Swift Advice from John 2024 750ml

Orin Swift Advice From John 2024 is a bold and expressive California Merlot created by winemaker Dave Phinney as a celebration of the richness, texture and versatility of the variety.

The wine takes its name from the book Advice From John, a collection of photographs of humorous, strange and unexpectedly profound messages written on bathroom walls in dive bars. The label features one of these photographs, reading "You Had Me At Hell No."

The 2024 vintage is made from 100% Merlot, sourced from premier vineyards across Northern California. It showcases the naturally luscious and generous character of Merlot while delivering the concentrated, rebellious style associated with Orin Swift.

The nose is dominated by blackberry pie, black plum, sage and lilac. The palate delivers an intense wave of dark fruit followed by savoury notes of fennel and licorice. Espresso bean and concentrated blackberry carry through the long finish, while gentle, soft tannins provide a smooth and polished texture.

Aged for 8 months in French oak, with 25% new oak, the wine combines ripe dark fruit with subtle toast and spice while maintaining its approachable character.

Deep, opaque purple-red with rich ruby and violet reflections.

Nose:

Powerful and expressive with blackberry pie, black plum, sage and lilac. Subtle dark chocolate, spice and toasted oak nuances add complexity.

Palate:

Full-bodied, plush and generous with concentrated blackberry, black plum and dark berry flavours. Savoury fennel and licorice develop across the mid-palate, complemented by subtle espresso and toasted oak.

Finish:

Long and persistent with concentrated blackberry and espresso bean, finishing with gentle, soft tannins and lingering savoury spice.
