Orin Swift Papillon 2022 is a powerful and sophisticated California red blend inspired by the classic Bordeaux tradition and built around the structure and prestige of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Papillon is one of Orin Swift's flagship wines and is traditionally composed around the five classic Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The 2022 vintage showcases the depth and concentration of Napa-grown fruit with an expressive combination of dark berries, cassis, plum, floral notes, spice and earthy complexity.

The wine pours an opaque crimson colour with a brooding cardinal rim. Aromas of ripe cassis and blackberry are layered with coastal chaparral, cedar box and allspice.

On the palate, concentrated cassis, pluot, blueberry and boysenberry combine with shaved fennel and subtle earthy notes. The mid-palate is round, weighty and richly textured before developing dusty, coating tannins.

French oak maturation adds layers of vanilla, toast and spice, while the substantial tannic structure provides length and ageing potential.

Long, powerful and persistent with dusty tannins, Madagascar vanilla, toffee, dark fruit and baking spice.
