Poggio San Polo Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG 2014 750ml
Poggio San Polo Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2014 is an elegant, terroir-driven Brunello produced by San Polo, one of Montalcino's leading sustainable wineries and part of the renowned Allegrini Group. Crafted exclusively from 100% Sangiovese, the wine is sourced from the estate's oldest vineyards situated at approximately 450 metres above sea level on the southeastern slopes of Montalcino. The calcium-rich clay soils, combined with excellent sun exposure and cooling breezes, produce wines of exceptional freshness, elegance, and ageing potential. San Polo is internationally recognised for its environmentally responsible viticulture, combining tradition with modern sustainability.
The 2014 growing season presented unique challenges with a warm winter followed by a cool, rainy summer. Thanks to the estate's elevated vineyards, outstanding ventilation, and meticulous vineyard management, the grapes reached harvest in excellent condition with ideal ripeness. Following careful hand harvesting in small crates, the fruit underwent fermentation in concrete tanks before malolactic fermentation in oak casks. The wine was matured for 30 months in large oak casks (10, 20 and 40 hectolitres) and rested for a minimum of six months in bottle before release, resulting in a Brunello that showcases finesse, purity, and classical structure.
