Ratti Marcenasco Barolo DOCG 2020 750ml

Ratti Marcenasco Barolo DOCG 2020 is the flagship Barolo of the historic Renato Ratti estate, one of the pioneering wineries that helped define the modern style of Barolo. Produced exclusively from 100% Nebbiolo, the wine originates from the historic Marcenasco vineyards in the renowned commune of La Morra, where Nebbiolo has been cultivated since the 12th century. The calcareous marl soils and ideal south-facing exposures produce fruit of exceptional elegance, perfume, and balance, making Marcenasco one of the benchmark expressions of classic La Morra Barolo.

The outstanding 2020 vintage delivered beautifully ripened fruit while maintaining freshness and structure. Grapes are hand-harvested in October before undergoing temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel with traditional submerged-cap maceration lasting three to four weeks. The wine is then matured for approximately two years in large 25hl and 50hl oak casks, followed by around one year of bottle ageing before release. The result is a refined and age-worthy Barolo that combines floral elegance, vibrant red fruit, silky tannins, and remarkable complexity.

Nose:
Elegant aromas of dried cherry, wild raspberry, rose petals, violet, liquorice, tobacco, sweet spices, orange peel, and subtle earthy minerality.

Palate:
Full-bodied with beautifully layered flavours of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, red currant, blood orange, liquorice, and gentle spice, supported by polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and refined mineral character. Smooth, harmonious, and elegantly structured with the classic finesse of La Morra Barolo.

Finish:
Long, refined, and persistent with lingering red berries, dried flowers, tobacco, liquorice, and elegant mineral complexity.
