Red Spot 15 Years is a highly regarded revival of one of Ireland’s historic “Spot” whiskeys, produced at Midleton Distillery. Part of the iconic Spot Whiskey range, it continues the legacy of the Mitchell & Son wine merchants, who originally matured whiskey in fortified wine casks marked by coloured paint spots to distinguish age.

Red Spot is matured for a minimum of 15 years in a combination of bourbon barrels, sherry butts, and Marsala wine casks. The influence of Marsala cask maturation gives it a distinctive richness and sweet wine complexity, setting it apart from other Irish single pot still expressions.

Tasting Notes

Colour:
Deep amber with golden copper highlights

Nose:
Aromatic and rich with notes of baked apple, dried apricot, raisins, toasted oak, vanilla, cinnamon, and sweet wine undertones from Marsala casks

Palate:
Full-bodied and smooth with layers of orchard fruits, baked pear, red berries, honey, toffee, nutmeg, and dried fruits. Marsala influence adds a lush sweetness and depth, balanced by classic pot still spice and oak structure

Finish:
Long, warming, and slightly sweet with lingering spice, fruit compote, oak, and subtle wine richness
