Mario Schiopetto Collio Friulano 2017 is a classic expression of Friulano from Collio Goriziano, one of Friuli-Venezia Giulia's most distinguished white-wine areas. Mario Schiopetto is regarded as one of the pioneers of modern Friulian white winemaking, and the estate has long focused on producing wines that combine freshness, texture and mineral character.
The vineyards are situated in the hilly Collio area, where the characteristic marl-rich Ponca soils contribute to the wine's mineral and savoury character. The grapes are hand-harvested before gentle pressing and fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then refined on its lees for approximately eight months, helping build texture while preserving freshness.
The 2017 vintage shows the classic Schiopetto interpretation of Friulano: aromatic and generously textured, with ripe pear and apricot complemented by almond, floral nuances and a distinctly mineral, savoury finish. Contemporary reviews of the vintage praised its combination of richness, freshness and precision, including a 95-point James Suckling rating.

Bright straw yellow with attractive golden-green reflections.
Nose:
Expressive aromas of ripe pear and apricot, followed by subtle almond, wildflowers and delicate spice.
Palate:
Full-bodied yet fresh and energetic, with ripe stone fruit, pear and citrus supported by a savoury mineral character. The lees ageing contributes a smooth, rounded texture.
Finish:
Long, fresh and mineral, with lingering fruit, almond and saline notes.
