Suntory Kakubin Whisky is one of Japan's most iconic blended whiskies, first created in 1937 by Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory and its first Master Blender. Its distinctive square bottle and tortoise-shell-inspired design have become closely associated with Japanese whisky culture.
Kakubin is a carefully balanced blend featuring key whisky components from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Suntory's signature style combines a gently fruity aroma with rich flavour and a pleasantly dry finish, making it particularly versatile for both sipping and mixed serves.
The whisky is especially well known in Japan as the foundation of the Kaku Highball, where whisky, chilled soda and ice create a crisp, refreshing long drink that works exceptionally well alongside food.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Golden amber.
Nose: Lemon, green apple, butter cookie and hazelnut, with a gently sweet and fruity character.
Palate: Soft and rounded, with honeyed sweetness, orchard fruit and subtle citrus, supported by gentle spice.
Finish: Clean and pleasantly dry, with lingering malt, light spice and a refreshing character.
