Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico “Pianeti” 2018 is a classic and highly regarded Amarone from one of Veneto’s most iconic family-owned estates. Produced by the historic Tommasi family, which has been crafting wines in Valpolicella since 1902, this Amarone is celebrated for balancing richness and concentration with freshness and elegance.

The 2018 vintage showcases a more refined and balanced style of Amarone, emphasizing aromatic complexity, silky texture, and drinkability over excessive heaviness. The wine is crafted from carefully selected Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes sourced from prestigious vineyards including La Groletta and Conca d’Oro in the Valpolicella Classica zone.

Following traditional Amarone production methods, the grapes are hand-harvested and naturally dried for around three months using the appassimento technique to concentrate flavours and structure. Fermentation is followed by approximately three years of ageing in large Slavonian oak casks, allowing the wine to develop complexity while preserving freshness and balance.

Critics praised the 2018 release for its elegance, layered dried-fruit character, and long ageing potential, with strong scores from Vinous, James Suckling, and Wine & Spirits.
